Public Service Announcement: Holiday Marketing No-No’s

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and that only means one thing: holiday marketing is about to take over.

Don’t get us wrong, while we love Christmas colors, pine trees, ornaments and big, fluffy bows, we advise businesses to use caution when creating holiday themed marketing materials. One wrong reindeer can turn your design into a design-nightmare.

Here are our big NO-NO’s for your holiday marketing materials:

  • Stop mixing red and green. We know you’re trying to be festive, but it is really hard on the eyes… and it strongly resembles a colorblindness test.

  • Pick just one holiday theme per marketing piece… unless you’re going for that ugly sweater party look.

  • Be careful who you may offend by associating your product with a holiday deeply rooted in religion and tradition. No one wants to see Santa smoking.

  • And finally, steer clear of holiday stock photos. Screen Shot 2014-11-12 at 11.55.01 AM
