What is the first step in a marketing strategy? If your answer is “building a website,” think again. What about “setting up social pages?” Try again! The first step in a marketing strategy, after you’ve outlined your business plan and goals, is branding.

Without a brand, there is just a business. Let’s stop and think about that for a second. The most successful companies include Apple, Nike, Amazon, and CocaCola. Although they are technically business, they are more-so brands. Their brand is their personality. It’s the way they are perceived by the public.

When we see CocaCola, most of us think “classic.” When we see Nike, we think “athletic.” Notice what wasn’t mentioned – their products. The public is entertained by personality, and personality attracts them to products; therefore, the brand creates a relationship with the client to keep coming back.
